Re: OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
From google searches I've determined that the ftp server you need to be uploading files to for AT&T is ftp://upload.attbi.com - I think.
Your homepage will be http://home.attbi.com/~username You've probably seen this before but there may be some info at http://help.broadband.att.com/index.jsp (and then go to "personal pages") You'll need to find out your ftp username (which is usually some or all of the elements making up your email address) and then get an ftp client to connect to the server. Hope this helps... |

Re: OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
I am an ATT customer and I use WS_FTP to access my web pages (plural because to get 60 megs, you must have 6 email addresses, 10 megs per address) unless I am uploading just 1 file, then I use the http upload feature on the Member Services page. I suppose the lack of information provided by ATT can be frustrating for the non-IT people, but I am so used to being told incorrectly how to do it, that I just do it my own way, which is industry standard. The upload address is indeed ftp://upload.attbi.com/ and your email address is your login and your email password is the password, but only for 10 megs. Each 10 megs will use the email login and password you create when setting up the additional email boxes.
If this didn't come out right, feel free to send me an email and I will try to clarify. |
Re: OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
I also use WS_ftp...it works well most of the time.

Re: OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
Anyone know how to access the web space supposedly provided by Charter Communications with cable modem service?

OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
Check this this out. They give you up to 60 megs of free space, but they don't let you use it. I have just spent the Last 6 hours trying to figure out how to use my AT&T web space. Its like chacing your own ***. There is not page to build a web page, they give you tools, that tell you that your not suscribed, and again, no web shell. Hell there is nothing there! Just some run around. I think they make it so fricking difficult to use in order to keep people from using it. "A feature that we offer, that you will never be able to use because we make it so damned impossible to use."
Like I said, I hate them! Here is a great way to upload my files for people to download, AND I can't even access it! WTF is the deal AT&T? You afraid to give your customers what you advertise? I honestly think that if we could "hang" corprate Executives that offend us, then customer service would become a fact, and not some bull**** PR line! |
Re: OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
I've also got 70Mb of webspace from my high speed provider. I found a nice tutorial on their website. Sometimes they require that you activate the webspace first...but with it being AT&T, I might agree that they are not advertising this.

Re: OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
I had xactly the same with my (dialup) freeserve account. In the end I found an "unofficial" site giving advice on how to use the webspace. It listed ftp addresses and details that just weren't available on any of freeserve's own pages. It seems to be a common strategy.
I recommend doing a few google searches for things like "AT&T webspace ftp upload faq" auntil you find someone else who has had the same problem and found the solution. |
Re: OT: God I Hate AT&T Broadband
We have ATT Cable.
It took Robyn my sweetheart about an hour of careful reading and me interpreting what she saw to realize the best way to do a site for us is via FTP. We use ws_ftp. I'll be happy to post how, (as soon as I figure it out again). |
