1.78 Settings.txt question
What does:
Planet Combat Defense Modifier := -200 mean, exactly? All weapons hit in ground combat or something? |
Re: 1.78 Settings.txt question
"Planet Combat Offense Modifier" and "Planet Combat Defense Modifier" seem to be the default planetary 'Combat Sensors' and 'ECM' values. We haven' done much experimenting with them yet. Since they are global they really aren't much use except for someone trying to balance a major mod to the entire game.

Re: 1.78 Settings.txt question
I believe that entry makes the previously hardcoded defense penalty for planets moddable.
It means that an attacking ship will almost never miss a planet, but now modders can change the value of "almost". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif The two entries before that have interesting implications; unmodded seekers have a +40 defense bonus, and a planet's weapons platforms have a +30 attack bonus. Oh I smell a trap. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
Sure, come on over and take this planet. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif It has no defenses. |

Re: 1.78 Settings.txt question
Yes, but...a planet with heavy mount weapons will have a 110% chance to hit (before rounding) at range 10--instead of 0%. Comes out to 99% from ranges 1-11, minus defender's ECM. Don't even think about putting talismans on your WPs. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
