OT: Farewell Futurama
Ya know, Im sitten there watchen a recorded Ep of this show, the one where they kidnap the Star Trek crew, and found myself wondering why the hell it hasnt picked back up. Only now does my dumb *** realize that Fox put it on Hiatus... damn 3 seasons and nixed. Gawwwd, I hate those bastards.

Re: OT: Farewell Futurama
Yeah, FOX has apparently wanted the show to fail from the beginning. They keep moving the time slot around, and even what DAY it's shown on. They wait till the Last possible second to announce whether each new season will be requested. And now they put it on 'hiatus' so as to avoid an uproar over an outright cancel, I guess. They seem to hope that with the show in limbo maybe people will 'forget' about it without some inconveniant letter-writing campaign to save it.
Would be great if someone else, maybe the SciFi Channel, would pick it up and save it. |
Re: OT: Farewell Futurama
This is how FOX does business. If a show does not hit the records in two episodes, its toast. Futurama had a 3 year contract. They had to produce it for that long.

Re: OT: Farewell Futurama
It wouldn't suprise me if Fox wasn't petty enough to have purposely torpedoed the show because of their frequent satirical referances to the Fox network and Murdock specifically. I'm with you Baron. Let's get Sci-fi channel to pick it up. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Quote:
"Was Futurama a good, funny, irreverent, well thought out cartoon comedy?" "Yes" "As good as the Simpsons?" "Has any cartoon been as important as the Simpsons?" Oh well, 3 seasons isn't a bad run for an ordinary show. |
Re: OT: Farewell Futurama
No doubt, Scifi seems to have all the good stuff lately. TOS, Twilight Zone (I FEAR the new show, Good Lord... but we shall see, Enterprise and Twilight back to back sound sweet if they dont screw it up)... And Babylon 5, damn I am going crazy trying to find a place that rents those tapes or sells them by season or whatever. Same for Galactica and TNG... would be nice if someone just had the series for rent. Hollywood Video is good about that.
I would totally prefer renting them, coz damn when you spend 10 bucks on one episode, you're pretty pissed when that episode is about "Garibaldi's magic flute" or something *LOL* Of course Im just pulling that outta nowhere, so dont you B5 gurus jump on me... heh [ August 15, 2002, 21:33: Message edited by: Cylapse ] |
Re: OT: Farewell Futurama
The B5 DVD sets go on sale in November. Check out Amazon.com I have only seen one or two episodes of this series, so I am looking forward to getting the boxed set DVD. Say, does any one know if From The Earth To The Moon was ever released on DVD?
