Sphere Worlds in Populated systems - Newbie Question
Ok I have not had the guts to try this...
Is there an adverse affect if a sphere world is built around the only sun in a system with populated worlds? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif I mean theoretically you are blocking all light from the Sun so do the planets become uninhabitable? Edit: And what about ring worlds? same question. [ August 20, 2002, 17:22: Message edited by: Perrin ] |

nah, through the miricales of high-tech translucent concrete, its alright.
no adverse effects. |
Re: Sphere Worlds in Populated systems - Newbie Question
The only "adverse" effect is that you can no longer create planets out of the asteroid fields in the system. If you want to make planets out of asteroids you have to do that before you make the ring/sphereworld.

And if you destroy a sphereworld (or ringworld) the star doesn't come back, right? (Even though in the ringworld picture you can see a little star inside! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif )

Say, this could be the explanation of that report of a system with planets, but no star.

i have never created a sphereworld before. i know there's some information in the faq about it. is there anothere place where i can find more info on how exactely one creates a sphere world or a ring world and what the difference between the two is, how to create a planet from asteroid fields (i didn't even know it was possible!)
