Captured ship strategies
What strategy is followed by a captured ship? Does it continue to follow its design strategy (even if that changes)? If an opponent sees me coming at him with a captured seeker ship, for example, can he mess me up by changing the design strategy to "point blank"?

Re: Captured ship strategies
Yes. Put the ship into a fleet (even a one-ship fleet), and you can dictate another strategy for it to follow.

Re: Captured ship strategies
Yes, they will follow the strategy set in the original design. I pointed this out to MM some time ago, but he hasn't fixed it yet. Once you capture a ship you ought to have a copy of the design for your own and be able to change the strategy even if you can't build it due to higher techs or even racial techs.

Re: Captured ship strategies
This is a byproduct of general SE bug (feature) - ship follows the strategy assigned to its original design. Even if it's your own ship and you upgrade to a new design with different strategy, it will still follow the orinal ship' strategy.
Almost like you can not fire the ship' captain who stubbornly follows what he has been teached in Star Fleet Academy. Blame it on lawyers http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
