Problems mine sweeping

I'm having a problem mine sweeping. When I send my fleet to clean up mines at a warp point they will sweep say 30 or so mines and then get annilated after. Is this how it is supposed to work? I'm fighting the Vorlons and they have their empire practically sealed off. I have to make a fleet of 15 destroyer mine sweepers to clear them out. Am I doing something wrong?

Depends on mine sweeping tech. Level 1 tech only sweeps 1 mine per component, you sweep 30 mines in a fiels of 90 and there are still 60 mines to blow you up. Since mine fields are 100 max, you should have enough mine sweepers to sweep 100 mines.
