Questions about "seek after"
How exactly does this work in simultaneous move games? Seeking after a stationary object should need no further explanation, but what about seeking after a ship?
If two opposing ships seek after each other, I assume that they meet somewhere on a line in between (closer to the slower ship). What if the target is moving tangentially to the attacker, though? Does the attacking ship "lead" the target to intercept it, or does it just aim directly at it, readjusting as it goes? If it does "lead" the target, can it be thrown off by mid-turn course corrections? If you want the fight to occur in a storm, how do you arrange that (as the defender)? Do you plan your movement so that the attacker cannot possibly close range until the end of your movement, and then end your movement in the storm, making sure that they have enough movement left to reach you? Finally, in a single-player simultaneous move game, I have sometimes set my ship(s) to "seek after" an enemy ship a few sectors away, yet the next turn, both fleets are in the same place. Any idea what is happening here? (I am sure that I have adequate supplies to close the gap.) |

The attacking ship aims directly at it, readjusting as it goes.

On a related note, I am assuming that ships only have two speeds: stopped and "all ahead full." That is, if my ships have movement of 7, and I only move 1 sector, I assume they go "all ahead full" for 1/7 of a turn and then stop for 6/7 of a turn. Right?
That is, if a storm is directly between me and the enemy, and, say, 2 sectors away from each of us, I assume I can ensure that combat takes place in the storm by just moving those 2 sectors at full speed (assuming my movement rate is at least as great as my opponent's) and stopping movement in the storm. If, on the other hand, my ship moved at 2/7 speed, and the attacker moved at full speed, I would not reach the storm in time. |

With the setup you describe, assuming you and your enemy are of equal speed, and assuming he is seeking after you, the combat would occur in the storm. You ship will move at full speed for two spaces and stop.
