Question about storms

I'm currently playing in a game and my fleet is hiding in a storm that no one can see into. I know this because my partners with Hyperoptics maxed can't even see me. So, my question is this:

1) Are the storms color coded? Like are all blue storms the same type?
2) Is there a way to know if the storm is completely cloaking my fleet without getting my partners into that sector to tell me?

Any other storm tips would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Question about storms

system wide nebulae are all color coded. the red ones cant be seen thru by anything. small storms are different, and are randomly generated.

Re: Question about storms

The map-maker within the game will generate nebula that are color-coded. Be aware however that a map CAN be modified to NOT conform to the default levels. Thus red nebulas in a modified map can be seen thru. Plus some Mods may have sensors that will penetrate such nebulas.
