Shipsets without AI
 
I've found myself recently with some shipsets that have no AI. I didn't know the AI's weren't included when I downloaded the files. If I were to create the AI, how do I go about doing that?

Well, the easiest way would be to copy one from another AI. Add a few tweaks if you like, and you're all set.

Just rename the files so they match the AI you're using them on.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">What if I want to do it the hard way? One of the shipsets was the Starblazers one, and I would definitely like to have an AI for that one, because I don't know exactly how to create the AI to operate like they would in the series.

Then copy the files from another AI to use as a template, and change everything.

I am certainly no AI guru, but I have created a couple of unique AI's and offer my advice to anybody who wants it.

When you copy an AI to use as a template, pick an AI that behaves similarly (especially in politics and anger) to what you want to create. Then decide what weapons path you want to take with them and figure out how to set up the research and design files to use those weapons. The most important thing is to try out your creations against other AI's and keep tweeking until you get the results you want.

If you try that, you will come up with specific questions (trust me, you will have lots of questions http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ). Post those and you will get answers from a number of people who have gone through this before.

It's easy to copy Politics/anger like files from one empire and research/designs files from another to create a unique combination.

If you have access to Excel, I had posted an excel workbook that has areas to select/enter some specifics, and gives you useable AI files to start from.
