Armor.
 
I have a small question. With every ship you can control the percentage of Fighterbays, Colony modules and cargo bays you must install:

Requirement Pct Fighter Bays := 0
Requirement Pct Colony Mods := 0
Requirement Pct Cargo := 0

Can I add this line too?

Requirement Pct Armor := 0

Wich file must I alter to make this line actually work in the game?
And another, similar, quesation.
Say I want to add a BatteringRam (dirived from the one from UM I) to a ship of mine as a standard component. How do I do that?

Armor and battering rams can't be required in this way. This would require a hard code change. You can't add this to the current data files. You could send an email to Malfador and they may addit in a future patch.

Still, if you play a game against AI, you can mod your ideas quite easily: Change all AI design creation file by altering the string "armor per space" (sp. must be wrong, but you will find it in the file) and also make a "miss. ability #1" to be warhead or whaever is the ability you assign to "battering ram". It will be a gentelman game awith other humans, but against AI you can make your mod very easily by just editing the designcreation files.

It was originally supposed to be possible to add more requirements than just the ones currently used. Besides minimum or maximum requirements for standard components, various 'special' components could have been usable as requirements. I have had an 'extra' line in my VehicleSize.txt for ages. It has no effect http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif but it also doesn't cause an error.

Requirement Min Engines := 1

This should cause the ship design screen to refuse to let you save a ship design without an engine. But it doesn't -- yet. So if you'd like to see things like this become possible you ought to email your request to MM.
