maximum tonnage?

just curious, when modding or altering a shipset, is there a maximum tonnage point? I noticed a range from 10kt to 5000kt. Can you go over that like say 20,000kt and will it work? Thanks for any replies.

Max tonnage is 256 ^ 2, or 65536.

Actually, it might be 1 less than that number, or 65535. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif That would be because the first bit would be 0.
