What\'s a good Mod to play
 

I'm sitting at home being very bored and I was looking back at my files when I re-noticed SE4. Now I've played the bare-bones game to death and that won't really keep me very entertained so I was wondering what mod you would suggest and where I could find it. Thanks in advance.

Ooh! Ooh! Try Pirates and Nomads!
If you just want something different from unmodded SE4, play as a Normal.
If the AIs are not challenging for you in classic SE4, play as a Pirate or a Nomad.

Note: The above is P&N v3.1b, for SE4 Gold.
If you only have SE4 Classic, try Pirates and Nomads V2.4 D
You can also get a more complex, humans-only Version from the mod archive at PBW.

PS: whatever Version you use, if you are playing as a Pirate or a Nomad, use every cheap trick you know of to defeat your enemies, or your will surely be crushed.
Tactical Combat, suicidal capture ships, remote mining enemy planets, anything is fair game.

PPS: if you use P&N v3.1b, you will need to download and install the imagemod componentpack (see sig for link)

Also try Babylon 5 modegold , ultimate tecks, with unbelivble AMOUNTS of tecks, more then any mode out there & lot more ship sizes .You can count on that.

Also.. Try TDM Mod. It's basically just a major overhaul of the AI. Makes them much more challening. Which will add some different flavour to the original game itself.

That's a good point. Grab the TDM AIs for unmodded SE4, and also use them in Pirates & Nomads with my AIPatcher

Some of the TDM AIs also have additional ship images not included with the TDM download.
The Vikings are one example. Download their shipset separately, and add in the extra images.

There are 4 files for the B5 Mod, and they can all be found at PBW. There is one file in the Shipsets section, and 3 in the Mods section. The mod is still in development, and the latest Version is for SE4 v1.49.

Proportions is cool, too... makes for a more realistic, epic game... your new colonies don't start out building almost as fast as your homeworld!
