Again with the @#$%@# fleet orders
So I'm playing a P&N game (ver 3.1) as a pirate(solo to get figure things out for an MP game I have planned) So the question is why can't my Pirates capture ships? I build a Civilian Frieghter and give it 'Capture Ship' orders for the class and then put it in a fleet with capture ship orders. When combat comes I pick strategic (since I want to practice for MP game) and the ship either runs around in circles or runs away. (all relevant game settings are default) Should I not be using the Civ Freighter for this?

Questions:
1. You said the ship orders were set to "Capture Ship"? I just want to verify that. It's important. When you design your ship if you give it a design type of "Boarding Ship" the ship strategy will default to capture ship. Othe types will not. However other types should be usable as boarding ships if you change their ship strategy to capture ships. 2. The enemy ship you are attempting to board does not have shields? 3. Yes to all three.
Just tried it with an Destroyer with identical components and it worked OK so I guess it must have something to do with P&N's Civilian Frieghters. (possibly with their built in Cloak ability??) |

I'm just wondering this, i bet you thinkim trying to make you sound dumb, and i bet im wrong and am really stupid for asking htis, but does your ship have boarding parties/whatever passes as this in P&N? also, maybe it is having some problems with pathfinding/secondary strat, try putting on a weapon??? or just try it in stock to make sure it works there for you as well.
