engines in ships

I noticed that engines were not a required component on the small ships to start game?

If I use two engines on a ship will it travel twice as fast?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah, it would be nice if the game told you you hadn't put at least one engine on the ship. Just so you wouldn't forget.

Yes, each ion engine I gives you one movement point. The maximum is six. Combat movement is half that, rounded up. Advanced engines give 1, 2, or 3 bonus movement per ship, not per engine.

Generally you wnat as many engines as possible. Speed makes ships more effective.

See Suide Junkie's Pirates mod for a total rewrite of all the rules outlined above. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
