Very OT: MTGO Players

Well, anyone? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Just got back into playing Magic The Gathering recently. (since most of the players around my hometown are about 12 I kinda gave it up back in the 'Mirage' days.). The I discovered Magic The Gathering Online (MTGO). Anyone here play. And if so, want a game?

My ingame handle is 'WarrGrinn'. (Deathstalker seems to have already been taken http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif )

I played the beta of that game several months ago, and it was absolutely terrible. They had a number of overly powerful cards that when used in a certain combination were virtually unstoppable.

I have played on occation. I got a little tired of the punks, though. I just can't stand the attitude of some of the Online gamers these days. This harkens back to the cheater thread, but some of the people I run into playing Magic would rather quit a game then face a defeat. It's insane. Magic has a lot to do with luck. If you get a bad draw, you could lose in the first few rounds. Chalk it up to bad luck? HECK NO!! Quit, and then you didn't lose, right? Also, I have had some people get so damn pissy when I play a particularly nasty hand that it takes a lot of the fun out of it. It's just not worth it most of the time...nor is Online gaming for that matter.

As with any Online gaming there are always idiots. And yes I've met my fair share on MTGO. But I've been playing for long enough now that I've built up a good 'buddy list' and most of my games are 'idiot free'. Sometimes I think we don't realize how lucky we are with SEIV and PBW. We have a nice solid core of mature gamers on PBW and a very strong community here at the Shrapnel Boards. MTGO is only 5 months old, its still growing (but doing so nicely). Just imagine the SEIV community though if it was the size of say the Diablo community (or the DC Comics Boards.) Most likely we'd have our fair share of problems as well.

I also have an account at MTGO. My collection is small, but casual play is a lot of fun http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif .
My ingame name at MTGO is Soenke.

Number of *******s that exist increases as the size of the community increases.

In a community of approximately 50 people, you'll get everyone being nice, because everyone knows each other.
Increase to 500 and you'll get about 1 major *******.
Increase to 5000 and you'll be up to 15 (and need Moderators / police)
Increase to 50,000 and you'll have 200 (and start to require prisons / banning)

and so on.
You get this trend everywhere, whether it be population in a city, or gaming communities.
It's a sad fact, but bastards can get anywhere that becomes popular.
