Ai research
 
Someone please explain this to me? I'm checking out the AIs in a TDM game I'm playing (I'm 5th).

The Cue-Cappa are bottled in by the Colonials, and have 64k research points per turn. The problem is they haven't DONE anything with all that research- they're on Ship 3, PD 3, Missile 3, Warheads 2, Combat Support 1, Psysic 1, Physics 1, Mil Sci 1. Total tech levels: 32. The problem here is I have *41k* research and 59 tech levels. Not all light stuff- Drones, Ship Construction, most of the theoreticals. Even with trade I'm behind the Cue-Cappa in research; why do they have so few techs?
EDIT: removed comment. The score window doesn't take into account AI bonuses..doesn't account for the Cue-Cappa situation though.

Side track: this has been a nasty little game so far- the Xi'Chung and the Abbidon have gotten wacked already, and I had nothing to do with it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I pop into the Xi'Chung home system with my laborously-constructed fleet, and I get two Messages.

"First Contact: Toron Condfederation."
"The Xi'Chung have been destroyed."

Geez.

Are you sure the Cue Cappa are running on AI? Have a look if their ministers are on. You gan always post the savegame here so we all can have a look. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

It is also possible that CueCappa started next to the aggresive AI and its homeworld has been constantly blockaded and all research points get wasted.

Are you sure that the tech levels the cue cappa have doesn't represent a good use of their research points. I'm too lazy to do the math myself.

I've found that the racial techs, especially psychic and temporal, cost a lot of research points. Against an agressive AI, it can be hard to research fast enough. Even with the AI bonus. Without the bonus, the racial tech AI's are doomed.

The ministers better be on..they were added randomly as a computer opponent!

Are you sure this is the right game? Cannot find any Cue Cappas in it. All the other empires do seem to run fine, so.

And taking first place in the "what the hell?" catagory..yes, that's the right game. No, I don't see the Cu-Cappa either. Or the colonials for that matter!

Err..

EDIT: it's called "loaded the wrong game to compare the AIs." Never mind, pointless thread.
