Help! How do I get my name back? -> Firewalls -> Ad blockers
I changed the cookie policy on my computer to allow only first party cookies and disallow third-party cookies.
Then I wiped out all my cookies. : ( Then I found I couldn't participate "actively" in this site. So, I registered again as "Maestro" with a new e-mail address, but I want my old name back! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif What is wierd is that my displayed name is tbontob. Can anyone help me? tbontob P.S. Or am I doomed to die an ignominious death. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif P.P.S. Without anyone to mourn my passing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif P.P.P.S. Or to celebrate my demise with a e-mail of good-riddence! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif [ October 25, 2002, 04:47: Message edited by: Suicide Junkie ] |

Re: Help! How do I get my name back? -> Firewalls -> Ad blockers
A more effective way to block unwanted cookies might be to get a software firewall that has the ability to do so.

Hi Fyron http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Actually, I do have a firewall to prevent unwanted cookies in addition to IE6 The system I have in place now is: A) Through Internet Explorer 6: 1) Third party cookies are blocked! This means I do not get advertisers cookies etc. 2) First party cookies that are required for the functionality of the website are permitted. B) Then my firewall (Norton Internet Security)screens the First party cookies. I think this will work well. Anyone have any better ideas? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Edited for grammer! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif [ October 23, 2002, 18:46: Message edited by: tbontob ] |
Re: Help! How do I get my name back? -> Firewalls -> Ad blockers
Norton Personal Firewall allows me to decide whether to allow every cookie that appears or to block them. I can do it on a case by case basis, or I can always allow (or block) a particular cookie (such as the Shrapnal forums cookie).

Yes...
But what I like about my system is that I have fewer cookies to consider whether to block or not. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Third party cookies are automatically eliminated! |
