Sweeping mines
How do you sweep mines? I have two mine sweeping ships. I’m currently trying to sweep an enemy minefield for an ally's system (that I plan on conquering later on) and my ship’s cloaked. Do I need to have my ship uncloaked to sweep the enemy minefield? I press the broomstick icon to sweep the minefield but after the next turn, the minefield is still there.

Re: Sweeping mines
To sweep a enemy minefield, you send the mine sweeper ship to it. It will automatically sweep mines, until the sweeper components are saturated, then the ships will take damage.
If I understand you correctly, you want to sweep a known ally minefield to aid someone else. The rules do not allow that. I wonder, where else has your ally put mines, orbiting your planets perhaps? Oh well, break your treaty and find out. Bwa ha ha ha. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif [EDIT] Oh wait, I read your post backward. If you've gone to a known enemy minefield, and you didn't sweep anything, and your ships didn't take damage, then all mines were consumed in previous attacks that completely destroyed ships. The mine field indicator does not fade automatically. Use the sweep mines button to insure it does. Decloaking should not be necessicary. [ October 23, 2002, 22:07: Message edited by: Arkcon ] |

Ctrl + R will allow you to manually remove a minefield indicator.
Ctrl + T will allow you to manually add a minefield indicator. |
Re: Sweeping mines
Hey thanks for tips! Actually, the mines I think were in place by the Xiait who are at war with my allies the Ukra tal. I just wanted to know the other side of the warp point for possible conquest as the Jranear Empire.
