starmaps
i want to create a starmap. is there a maximum # of starsystems you can put on a map. what i am thinking of doing is to ramdomly create a starmap then add empty starsystems to fill the space. they would allow you to create warppoints to other systems without having to go in one jump, find hidden star systems, or create them from nebulae and asteroids, etc. i realize that would be a total of 3082 starsystems.

Re: starmaps
There's a hardcoded limit of 255 systems; that's the highest it can be set in Settings.txt .
You'll also need a larger SystemNames.txt file; there are several available. The standard file only has around 140 names, IIRC. |
Re: starmaps
You can make systems have more objects in them, thereby simulating more systems, while still having only 255. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: starmaps
oh well.
another question. is there a way to add ringworld and sphereworld as possible planet types when creating maps using automated map generation. and another one. anything out there that will allow you to turn gas giants into mini-suns like in 2010 then build ringworld or sphereworld around them. |
