Strange thing with Facilities
Okay weird thing happening. When I open the construction queue for my planets I see a couple of planets that have their facilities displayed as a fraction (as per normal) but the top number is larger than the allowed number of facilities eg 24/5. If I scrap some facilities and try to build another it won't let me as says maximun limit of facilities has been reached. What is going on? Obviously the planets could hold more facilities at one stage but not anymore. I know I have had quite a few intel attacks come my way but when i look at the planet it has breathable atmosphere etc. and displays the productin values of the planet as though ALL the facilities were producing, though I suspect this isn't the case. What can I do to fix the problem and what is/has caused this?
any help appreciated! |
Re: Strange thing with Facilities
Sounds like a planet that has become domed... Did you bring population there that can't breathe the atmosphere? Because if any portion of the population of the planet can't breathe the planet's atmosphere, it becomes a domed colony with all the space limits that implies.

Re: Strange thing with Facilities
I cant remember.
When you dome a planet like this by having a mixed atmosphere population requirement... do all of the facilities still get used? or just the first 5(etc) |
Re: Strange thing with Facilities
Sounds like PaladinX hit the nail on the head.
If a planet has 24 facilities and then a different breathing race is dropped on the planet, it will now be domed. The extra facilities will continue to work but you wan't be able to build any new facilities until the planet becomes un-domed again. |
Re: Strange thing with Facilities
Actually i have just noticed that the "conditions" on the planet have changed to "deadly" although the population still seems to be growing. I suspect this is from an intel attack. I haven't moved any population to the planet, still the original population type. How do I fix the problem?

Re: Strange thing with Facilities
"Deadly" conditions shouldn't make a planet become domed.
Population hasn't dropped to 0M has it? Unless someone else has some other suggestions, Perhaps upload your turn and I'll take a look at it. |
Re: Strange thing with Facilities
One thing you can do is upgrade those facilities. I have a similar situation in one of my games and was able to upgrade the spaceyard and the mineral miners with no hoo-hoo.

Re: Strange thing with Facilities
Deadly does not necessarily mean no reproduction. IIRC, it means that the conditions value (not to be confused with resource values) of the planet (which is only in the map editor) is between 0 and 0.60. 1.0 is the average value, and it goes up to 1.50 for Optimal planets.

Re: Strange thing with Facilities
That might be a good suggestion for MM.
Make all "deadly" planets domed, regardless of atmosphere type / race. |
Re: Strange thing with Facilities
If you construct a condition improvement facility on the planet, the deadly condition should eventually go away, right? Oh, but you can't build any facilities because of the dome... if you have religious tech, maybe you can put a nature shrine on one of the other planets/moons of the same system and the deadly condition should eventually go away.
