@hickmanj: Where to put race files
 

The various race files each need to be put into a race folder under the Pictures/Races/... subdirectory.

eg SpaceEmpiresIV_Gold/Pictures/Races/Shadows
(in the above example, stick all of your Shadows files into a new Shadows sub-directory.

With respect to mods that overwrite SEIV Gold files, you may wish to create a mod directory instead containing all of the mod files.

I suggest you make a post to the forum on this as I do not have all of the details on what to do (as I have a huge hard-disk, I just have several SEIV directories instead - eg:
SEIV_ original, SEIV Gold (mod pack), etc).
