Re: Help?
Instead selecting Reply I clicked New Topic.
Sorry! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Didn't wanted to start new topic! I wanted this to be under SE4 : Modding & Help topic, so could the ADMIN be so kind to move the top text under that topic and erease this? |
Re: Help?
Uh, oh. The Last time a new topic was started by mistake, it turned into a huge thread full of useless nonsense. Take a look at the thread named "Let it snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!". (Or whatever name it changes to.) It probably won't happen to this one, though, because two such threads would be a bit too much. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
It's OK. If nobody Posts here, this topic will just drift down and down the list and into oblivion. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |

a) You have saved them as bmps, 128x128 pixels for portrait pictures, 36x36 for minis. b) You have named them correctly: Racename_portrait_shipsize and Racename_mini_shipsize. Note that Racename must be exactly the same as the name of the folder they are stored in. c) You are using shipnames that are actually called for in vehiclesize.txt. Look for errors like lightcruiser/ cruiserlight and carrier/ mediumcarrier. |
Re: Help?
post or email your work to me, I can take a look at it. Also, look in the MUST SEE SEIV SITEs thread (Sticky at the top of this forum) and look for a link to the Ship Set Tutorial. It might provide some info.
Not really knowning exactly what it is your problem is, I can only speculate. Most often when people make new ships, they do not correctly name them as SJ has mentioned. Also when people make additional ships for the game, they do not include them in the vehiclesize.txt. file, or do so incorrectly. Say for example you want to have 3 differant imgages for Escort. Commonly, you would have 3 differant Escort entries in the vehiclesize.txt with each using a differant Bitmap image. Example Primary Bitmap Name := Escort (Ship 1) Primary Bitmap Name := EscortB (Ship 2) Primary Bitmap Name := EscortC (Ship 3) Now the two new images would have to have both the Portrait and the Mini named accordingly. RaceName_Portrait_EscortB - RaceName_Mini_EscortB. Portrait images are as SJ said, 128x128, and Mini's are 36x36. Now I have never added additional ships to the game, so take what I say with a little caution. However, I have made over 20 ship sets, and as long as they are correctly named, they have all shown up where they are expected to be. Best of luck. Re: Help?
Uhm, Atrocities?
As helpful as I try to be, I didn't post that information! I think the problem is not in the graphics, but in the datafiles... Look in your vehiclesize.txt, and see if you've accidentally added two blank lines in a row anywhere... SE4 reads that as the End of File, and will ignore anything after it. Useful for debugging, but it is the most common problem to run into when modding the datafiles. |
