How many players in a game do you prefer?
I am talking about human players. I don't care how many AI you like to throw in there.
Basically what I want to know is, Given your preferance of X number of human players in a game of SEIV, what would X be for you. Answer 1 if you prefer solo SEIV to multiplayer SEIV. |

Galaxy size is also a factor... I like around 8 players for medium, and maybe 12 for large.
My favorite game is probably medium galaxies, around 8 players, with High tech costs and no tech trading... -Spoon [ December 12, 2002, 16:56: Message edited by: spoon ] |

2 or 3 player hotseat tactical combat games.
2 Player PBlan games are great too, with 200 turns per day and autoprocessing. 6-8 for a PBW game to make it worthwhile. |

I agree with SJ and Mr. tesco samoa.
2 maybe 3 players in a hotseat tactical combat. 8 players seems good in multi-player, sorry PBW! I'm new at this. mlmbd http://www.shrapnelgames.com//ubb/icons/icon6.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif |
Re: How many players in a game do you prefer?
An even number of players to reduce the possibility of odd man out. For example, 2v1 or 2v2v1

Re: How many players in a game do you prefer?
I like em all. From one on one to massive.
I'm playing PBW games with 8, 12 and hosting one with 19 players. All running along fine. In the game with 19 players, most turns everyone submits, sometimes someone misses. Had two dropouts during the game so far, not much. There were more in the 8 player game. |
Re: How many players in a game do you prefer?
I voted for solo, because I don't play regularly enough to feel comfortable in a multi-player game. (i.e., I'd feel guilty missing lots of turns)
Ah, if only real life didn't intrude on game time so much... [ December 12, 2002, 21:22: Message edited by: DirectorTsaarx ] |
Re: How many players in a game do you prefer?
I think seven is about the right number of players for PBW and multiplay. Many of the classic multi-player board games, like Diplomacy, have seven players. Seven works well because things stay fluid - there is no inevitable groupings of teams like there would be for four or six players (2v2 or 3v3). Plus, in PBW anyway, seven moves pretty fast.

Re: How many players in a game do you prefer?
more players = more mess
more mess = more fun between 6-8 and you may have not too many drop out in a long game. |
