travelling with SEIV
 

I finally purchased SEIV Gold (waiting for UPS as we speak), and while I don't expect any problems playing on my home computer, I do wonder whether I will be able to play with my laptop for the 2 weeks I will be away for Xmas.

My problem is that the laptop does not have a CD drive, so if SEIV requires the CD to start, then my only option will be to start the game through my home network, put the laptop on standby, and pray the battery holds after I get to my destination (and that it doesn't crash for 2 weeks).

Could anybody tell me whether the CD is required, or will it be enough to install and register once I get the game?

Thanks... I am really looking forward to playing and while I have been reading the Boards for a while, I am sure I will have some noob questions!

The CD is not required to play the game.

you just need the cd to install the game but not to play. if you want the listen to the music that is on the disc then you would need it.

I can install the game through my home computer into the laptop, so as long as I don't need it to start the program I am fine.

Yeah... 2 weeks to be pathetically defeated by puny AIs, as I have never played before. Well, I have played the demo, but I guess that doesn't count. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I've just finished playing my second game. You'll be surprised how well us novices can do against the AI!

Was it TDM? I too felt pretty good beating my stock 1.38 AI on low with no bonus, until i got some TDM with high and low bonus. Then i felt humble again.

Also, Nabatam, you should bring a charger, i can't imagine how a laptop can hold a charge for 2 wks.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah really. 2 weeks is along time dude. My main computer is a Dell Imspiron 8100 and the battery only Last for a max of about 2 hours. Maybe 2 1/2 if I'm lucky.
