Actually, it is lightly modded.
The changes so far are: 1kt and 2kt troop "Avatars", one for each player in the game. This is you... wander the game, do your thing and try not to get killed http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif If you do die, then other players will have opportunity to get promoted, and you have to start over as a fresh recruit.
There are also a number of tiny hull sizes, from 35kt to 125kt, potentially, you could own one of these yourself, and cruise the galaxy.
There are also VIP quarters to travel in, and miscellaneous luxury items to add to your prestige.
Some Galactic Wonders are planned, such as a "Giant Statue of Richard", "Temple of Aaron", etc.
You can probably see the theme of these items is to be fun props, rather than any sort of technically useful components http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Go to the forum, sign up, and post in the Recruitment Office to get a job.

There will be many planetary governor jobs available soon, and we could always use more good Officers!
There is also a position available for Nomenclature Minister, wherein you would organize the names of objects in the game.

I don't know where I live, does that make me a bad governor, I mean I don't really know the locals...

If I get a choice I'd choose Avalon VI.
