Graphics Directory Structure & Mod question

Let's assume that the player has set up all of his mods each in their own directory under (in) the SEIV directory (most of the unzip/self installs do this automatically). Am I correct in assuming: if the race file in a mod finds no graphics file for an item when it is called for, then it looks back "up" into the "Basic unmodded" SEIV files for a graphics file to display? So, I can take Geoschmo's new pace pics and install them ONCE in the unmodded SEIV race files and then all of the mods will use them...SO LONG as the individual mods themselves do not provide pics.

Edit: Ooops...I shouldn't have posted this here, should I?

Re: Graphics Directory Structure & Mod question

Its a fair question, and the answer is yes.

Even if the mods provide only SOME of the images, the game will look back into the unmodded game for the ones it can't find.

However, I'm not sure as to which has priority between:
a) modded "secondary image"
b) unmodded "primary image"

If (a) has priority, then that setup will not help much with neostandard images.

An alternative is to just put all the images in unmodded SE4, and only include the modded AI text files in the mod.
