game freezing

Sorry for being impatient and not digging deeper to see if this problem already answered. I just got the game and want to get back to playing. Im in my first game single player, galaxy large and high number computor players.I have gotten into 2nd place and done all but the Last tech research. After ending my turn count goes to the eight comp player turn and freezes giving message range check error. my Version is 1.6

Re: game freezing

Lots of errors and bugs were fixed in recent patches. Go to Malfador.com and get the Lastest patch to get to V1.84. This will probably fix your problem.

Slick.

Even if installing latest patch won't help, you can get around the problem: Switch the offending player to your control (game pulldown menu, click on "players"), and play the turn yourself. After this turn player back to AI control. Don't forget to switch on all ministers before doing this !
See if it helps.

Is that a custom or stock race?

Re: game freezing

farmer,
you might get around this if you have a save from the turn before, or there abouts, the turn that locks you up. If you do:

1. Start from that save
2. Then go to the active empires display selection and set one of the empires to your control, leave your empire in your control, and do nothing when its that empires turn, just hit "end turn"
3.Do this with each empire, {reload and set a different empire to human control} until the game does NOT lock up.

This may ID the empire that is causing the problem. Load up the game again and see if there is something wierd it is doing or trying to do. If you can't figure it, just start destroying or scrapping anything you suspect might be doing it.

Even if you have to destroy the whole empire it beats having your game ruined completely. No guarantee that something else like it might not happen again but worth a try if you have put a lot of time into your game.

*edited: I should learn to read be4 flapping my mouth. I just saw olegs post suggesting the same. Duhhh...
