"In a move that has alarmed free speech advocates, the U.S. Justice Department this week seized a news Web site containing information on pirated software and hardware, turning it into a government-run site containing warnings about software piracy and links to antipiracy investigations. "

Re: OT: "Update: US government seizes news Web site" Concerns Piracy
The DOJ is now seizing the Domain names of sites with illegal content, and redirecting/forwarding them to DOJ sites. They will then track the Users and record demographics. Personally, I like the idea of shutting down illegal sites that provide information on hacking, cracking and spoofing and anarchy/terrorism. I don’t much like the idea of then tracking the Users so that a list of usual subjects can be collected. I think that should be reserved for sites that deal in child porn and other such perverted materials. A very normal person would be expected to look around a hacker site out of curiosity, and it would not make them a hacker. I would think that shutting the sites down and then taking the owners and Host to task would be sufficient. If you enjoy visiting you favorite underground site, perhaps you should avoid doing it from home from now on.
