Holy Crap It Runs In Linux!!!
 

My disgust of MOO3 brought me back to SEIV after a few month hiatus. Anyway, i spend most of my time in linux these days, so just for kicks i tried to install it with winex. It works PERFECTLY. Wow. Winex sure has come a long way.

Are you referring to MOO 3 or SE IV? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I've heard that MOO 3 worked in WineX but don't know if anyone has tried to get SE IV to work in WineX yet.

People have reported varying degrees of success running se4 under Wine. Most people say it works OK, but with a few tolerable UI/ graphics glitches.

Sorry, I meant SEIV runs in winex. So far i haven't noticed any glitches, but i'm using a recent cvs Version of winex. Also, i should have searched first to see if this was common knowledge. I was just alittle excited http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

i am wanting to try this once on my linux box (debian sid). is there a good guide (small) around on how to setup games with winex? do you have to install the game again under linux or can you point to an existing parition?
anyway, to use the latter i would have to be carefull because my other os is xp and the ntfs support isn't up to par although it seems to work.

You can do either. But with ntfs write support so experimental, i wouldn't go that way. Just install it in linux. Install is as simple as

mount /mnt/cdrom
winex D:\Setup.exe

After you first install winex, i think you just have to type "winex" and it setups a fake windows directory structure for you. You also have to setup your .winex/config file, which is cake. just edit the example that gets installed.
