Some quick AI questions

I played SEIV a lot about a year and a half ago, but lost interest due to 2 AI flaws.

1. The AI would often focus on taking THAT system. Often I would gasp as a fleet of ships would pass my soft homeworld planets only to attack the defened frontier one.

2. Mines. The AI was just horrible at dealing with minefields. They would smash fleet after fleet into mines.

I tried various mods, but the AI was always just a bit below par.

Now this was before SEIV gold, so my question is has this improved?

Re: Some quick AI questions

The mine thing is definitely improved, and the AI is better in many ways compared to pre-Gold. It's still not too hard to find ways to beat it, but it is much improved. I think the first area you mention has been tweaked, too, but I don't remember seeing that specific problem before.

There is no big problem with minefields anymore. Several TDM AIs are in fact can zip through yourminefields http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif As to focusing on one particular planet - that still can be seen. It is a computer after all, not living being. If you feed it with the same input data, you will get the same output every time. I don't think it is something SE specific http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
