Mutliplayer TCP/PBeM Question
Hello everyone, I have a question. Is it possible to start a game with a TCP connection, then change to PBeM, then switch back to TCP again?
Seems this would be a good way to 'jumpstart' a game for the first x turns, play by email when the people aren't around for the next x turns, then get back into TCP mode for another x turns on the weekends or when you can gather people together. |
Re: Mutliplayer TCP/PBeM Question
Yes, you can do this. As long as you start the game as a TCP/IP game you can switch to PBEM or PBW, and back to TCP/IP at any point in the game.
However, if you start the game as a PBEM or PBW you can NOT change to TCP/IP down the road. Geoschmo |
Re: Mutliplayer TCP/PBeM Question
Thanks, but it didn't seem to work... or maybe I messed it up. We played TCP for 75 turns or so, then when I loaded it up to run as host for PBeM, it asked me if I wanted to continue in TCP and I said No. We ran the host PBeM for a bunch more turns, but now it won't ask me to run in TCP anymore... or is there a way to load it up in TCP now?

Re: Mutliplayer TCP/PBeM Question
It's supposed to work, but honestly I haven't tried it since Version 1.60. I know it worked then. But it's possible something was changed since then.

Hmm I recall at one point I tried to do this too and failed. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif If anyone has got this to work I'd be interested in knowing too.
