Re-supply
Thanks for the answers on my Last question, it was working.
I do have a question on re-supply. I had colonized a planet in a new system so I had no space dock. Not thinking built a pop transport without very good range...oops. Well on the return trip it ran out of gas. I hit resupply at nearest and it limped back to home planet. is this normal seeing it ran out of gas? Also I tried a couple of different ship designs to resupply the ship but nothing seemed to work. Did I need to put them into a fleet together? would that have done it? By the way that race I encountered hasn't talked to me so i sent a ship to check things out. 2 warp points in and they are both mined. Guess they don't like me. |
Re: Re-supply
Ships in a fleet will share supplies, so if you were to build one with a bunch of supply storage bays, it would make an excellent rescue/refueling ship.
You will also want to build resupply depots (facilities) on your planets. They automatically refuel any ship which passes through that sector of space. Your ship dosen't even have to stop for a turn! You've got one at your homeworld, which is why the ship went there to resupply. |
Re: Re-supply
Build a resupply depot so you may resupply your ships, then upgrade it to a Space dock after it is built… This way you will have both; resupply ships as well as sending production home via the upgrade to Space dock. Note: usually one per system is sufficient now. And your Home World culture Centers already has one built in.
The range on a star liner is about 20 (sectors) or 10 turns… And carries one Pop with the star life support loaded, right click this component and follow the derections. Build a few Tankers (Supply Ship) with a Small tanker Hull. Basic Bridge and life support, crew qtrs. 3 engines and the rest all (blue) Supply Storage bays… Yes, fleet the Tanker with ships in need of supply (only one complete turn fleeted is required to get a good fill from a tanker) Un-fleet tanker and send it to the nearest resupply or space dock to be refueled… Is this the Zyanaras you are referring to in regards to the mine fields? If so leave them be http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif What is there posture to you now? Are they warm to yet? Have you made contact with any other races yet? Re: Re-supply
That's them. It says amiable, in SE4 speak this means? Can't be to bad, but isn't the greatest either is it? No other races yet. They are up in the top right corner there is a system between us that leads out to the rest of the quadrent that I have not gone through yet. I can't see how everyone is doing but i am in 8 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif . Oh well it's being quite a learning experience.

Re: Re-supply
Amiable is roughly midway between the best happiness and indifference.
They should be willing to accept some treaties and trade deals. |

Is this the Zyanaras the only door out of your empire and if so how many systems do you have between one end to the Zyanaras system???? Now it is time for you to trade Colonization techs with the Zyanaras http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif , you will give them your rock colonization for there Ice Colonization… Remember Zyanara are Xenophobic and may/will drop in the posture towards you to as much as cool, don’t be alarmed they will creep back up to amiable… When they do get back to receptive or better, ask them for a trade agreement, but they will probably refuse… They will ask you when they are ready to trade with you, so don’t worry. But ask every now and then when they are receptive or better to you. With this said, and you have about a half dozen system to your self, the AI Player on the other side of the Zyanaras are probably having the same problem as you in there dealings with the Zyanaras, so you have time NOW, to send SATS and mines to the Systems warp point connected to Zyanaras home system as to set up a future defense. Provided that this is in fact your only door out… This will be a good defensive start for you, but you will have a hard time with resources for lack of trade partners… So build up your empire gradual… and in this case more then any other; you will need to build a trade center to keep your economy balanced. Any questions, I will be turning in soon? |
Re: Re-supply
HercMighty and other new Players to AI Campaign.
Starting your first real game, at just for moderate play (top * trait choice) is very difficult for the Beginner http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif The AI responds like real Human Players, somewhat; All demeanors and cultures and other little intricacies are in constant play with the AIs personalities for AI Campaign. Hypothetically, when you start near a Human Player that is Xenophobic by nature, you can expect him not to want much to do with you, no matter what you have to offer; early. If you bug him, he may lash out you. However, there is some flexibility, if he is not to aggressive. Well the same applies to: The Zyanara AI, which is a Xenophobe by nature but does not have an overly aggressive personality, so you can expect this AI race to be a little flexible in, time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif If you have 6 or more systems and your stuck behind the Zyanaras for a while, you will do better then fine in the end, with patents http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif If you wish to start a new AIC game you could choose: Human Player Opt 1: Which may be boring to you, at your currant level of ability. This options tempers all AI races a little so they may act more trusting and enter in agreements earlier then a Moderate game. Although be on guard even at this level the Psychopathic races still may start getting difficult after many years have gone by. Option 1 also gives you increased production and a higher Race bonus to spend on anything you want and if you want… This is a good introductory level to some of the facilities, ship operations, components, basic concepts, etc. that AI Campaign offers. Human Player Opt 2: May be the perfect choice for you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif The Moderate game has a somewhat unforgiving economics module for the Human Player. Option 2 is much easier in regards to Economics ONLY, and is not recommended for [Finite play] do to the fact you get a much higher Proportions of Resources right from the start. Note: The AI WILL be a little more crafty at this level. Human Player Opt 3: Is recommended to experienced player, as a option. Human Player Opt 4: Is Just recommended to the very experienced player, as a option. Please note: Irregardless of what trait options you choose, the top * Trait selection must be selected. Also adding Computer Player bonus: Any setting other then [NONE] Should be considered by experienced players. My recommendation is to start at the default of {None} for all players for most games! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I hope you stick with it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif John Sullivan [ March 08, 2003, 15:55: Message edited by: JLS ] |
Re: Re-supply
I'm having tons of fun and each time I turn it on I learn something new. I believe it will take a good 5 to 10 games before I truly understand let alone expect to win at any setting. But I am having fun, everything is making sense (Some of my choices aren't but I am learning from them)and I am enjoying it. Thanks for the Posts they do help out as lot when I check in and get a chance to read them I have had many times where I go "Oh that's how it works" I have frequented the FAQ's (Which I downloaded and put in Word Form and Hyperlinked everything so now searching them is much easier) along with a lot of sites that show up in them and in Posts on the forum. I figure by my 5th game I will be making informed and reasonable decisions instead of my irrational ones I am making now because of my "what would happen if I do this" mode I am in.
Anyways thanks and look forward to the next thread or email. |

JLS:
Which, if any, of you AI's files might be able to be retrofitted into a Proportions AI? I have quite a few race styles with no AIs and I'd like to have races with some personality rather than simply copying and renaming some files from an existing Proportions AI. At a guess, Speech, Anger, Politics, Settings might be transferable. Is there anything else that might be or are there any pitfalls that you know of that I should avoid? Thanx, Talenn |

However most BASE se4 MODS. With AIC Race 'Anger, Politics, Settings' files {may} help that AI be a little more responsive. This, however may give results, beyond that designers intent. For Very many reasons. Note: AI Campaigns: AI Design files, and All AI construction files also incluisve most minor AI files will not work with any Current Mod. This also applies to most of AI Campaign Data files as well. [ March 09, 2003, 00:54: Message edited by: JLS ] |
