Programmer needed for simple (I think) application
Ok, here's what I need. I want to automate the KOTH league. If you don't know what the KOTH league is, check out http://seiv.pbw.cc/koth.htm
I want to automate this as much as possible so I can do a better job of keeping up with it. I think making the web part interactive is probably a bit too much, but I want someone that can make me a standalone application that I can run that will let me plug in the players, the matchups, and the results, and it will generate the .htm page on the fly for me and I can just upload it to my website. I want it to track the results, and list the won loss standings, as well as the current hill standings. I want it to save the previous history so I can just open it and plug in the most recent results and setup the new matchups. Does this sound like something that would be too complicated? Geoschmo |

OK having thought about it a bit I think it is doable. I'll give it a shot. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Well, going by your past performance I'd say there is not anyone I'd rather have try it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Shot me an email if you have any questions about what I'd like to see or if you have any suggestions I may not have thought of.

Re: Programmer needed for simple (I think) application
I'd love to take a crack at it, but school work ate up all my free time after april i'll give it a go.
P.S. Don't Laugh I have a B.S. in programming from Grand Valley State Univ. in Allendale, Mich. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif P.S.S. If I can work it i'd love to slap it in my resume. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: Programmer needed for simple (I think) application
I know I'm going to get in trouble here...but what he heck...after all, I'm griped that I am waiting on 2 game starts by people who are not as excited as I am...but such is life...aparently they have one and I don't. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
However, I know a guy who has talent. He is the webmaster of our government site (unavailable to the general public since it's an intrasite). Anyway, he runs the whole site (practicaly) by ASP. He doesn't do much of anything anymore. People submit stuff on a form and it goes into an Access DB where the ASP's grab it and post it. Everything is dynamic. On the fly. He is in charge of our regional website but Headquarters (Washington DC) wants him to convert their static crap to be like his. He plays on PBW. Often, he has complained about the PBW JSP stuff. Mused about duplicating the entire thing to see if he could do better. I keep telling him that it's more complicated than he knows. But he keeps musing. He knows MS ASP. And several other things. Also, he built and maintains the server for all this. He is the mechanic. Where I come in is the guy who provides the Flash on pages. And some graphic design hints. But he's the mechanic. He seems reluctant to join this forum...though he reads it. NOW, not to take away anything from any other person who has volunterred.... but...here is a guy I think could automate what you needed. NOW...if interested...ask me for his email. Otherwise, I hesitate to give it out since he knows nothing of what I'm saying. I'll give a hint, though. He's an honorable player in PBW by the name of Lord Chane. |
