Climate Control Facility
In Version 1.78 of SE4 Gold, when you built a Climate Conrol Facility on your planet, after a while you recieved a message in the Log that said something like "planet x now has Optimum Conditions". In Version 1.84, I no longer seem to be getting the message, and planet conditions do not seem to be changing. Has anyone else had Climate Control Facility work for them in ver. 1.84?

Re: Climate Control Facility
Are you waiting long enough for the change? The conditions only get improved on month .1 of each game year.

Re: Climate Control Facility
I believe I waited long enough. The first facility you invent is the Climate Control Facility. I built a lot of them (maybe 50). The next Planet Utilization is Atmosphere Modification Facility. I built a lot of those also (at least 50). I am on the 140 turn of a single player game and atmospheres are being changed, but not a single planet's conditions have changed. They used to change in Version 1.78.

Re: Climate Control Facility
I had conditions improved in 1.84 games. There seems to be no difference to 1.78

Re: Climate Control Facility
Thanks Oleg! It may be the Mod I was in or some other arcane thing.

Re: Climate Control Facility
Actually I'm having that same problem with CCF. I have noticed that once a planet becomes sabotaged by some sort of atmopheric bomb and attains its conditions as 'deadly' CCF doesn't seem to do a thing about it.
Colonies of my feeble empire are frequently mistreated by spies of the 'bigger fish with bigger mouth' and I muster every resources to shut them out, but once they break through my counter line and do that 'thing' with one of my planet, it's simply doomed (precisely a colony with deadly living conditions, 0% repro rate frequently abeted to open rebelllion) Like I said I'm running relatively a small kingdom and my counter intels are simply outnumbered.(I'm a newb who got this fantastic game (Gold 1.84) Last week and this is my first rather humble campaigne) I first imagined CCF would do something to solve the problem, did some research on it and placed many (3-5) of them in all colonies. Colonies with better conditions like Mild, Good did eventually get their max level over few years, but ones with deadly conditions never seem to get any better. I even maxed the research on this field and I have a colony(Deadly Conditioned) with 5 lv 3 CCFs invested over 3 yrs and no luck until now. 5 lv3 CCFs over 2.5-3 yrs are supposed to yield some fruits, aren't they? (+3% X 5 X 3 yrs after Last completion = +45% Approx?) My questions are: 1. Have I waited not long enough to see the result? I'm currently playing under TDF MODPack Version (Which has been labelled specifically as 'Just an AI enhancements MOD') and am slowly beginning to wonder if this MOD is doing some arcane stuff on the game. 2. Or is it that there's an alternative way to solve the problem and I've been simply doing the wrong thing? 3. What is the exact numeric figure of the system of this planatary conditions ? Does a planet with optimal conditions mean it has 100% of it or is it something more (perhaps http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif 200, 250%)? Any help or comments will be greatly aprreciated. Have a nice day. [ March 23, 2003, 05:22: Message edited by: Larsius ] |
Re: Climate Control Facility
I did some test and found that the increment of CCF is now 0.01/0.02/0.03 per year, compared with the starting climate index between 0.00-1.50. Several CCFs are needed to make it faster. Does the decimal fraction being rounded down? Not sure.
Compared with its researching/building cost, it shall be more effective, maybe 0.1/0.2/0.3 per year. |
Re: Climate Control Facility
The fractional conditions value is never rounded. The .01-.03 is just added to whatever number the value has.
Deadly planets will eventually get better, it just takes a long while because they can be down at 0.00. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Totally changing the atmospheric conditions of a planet should be a long, arduous process. It should not happen in a short time frame. |
Re: Climate Control Facility
Thanks. It took me another somewhat 20 more turns to have it changed to its next climate level. By the time the result was shown rest of my entire colonies including my homeworld became inhabitable and I had to quit the campaign. I am really wondering how other fellows are coping with those waves of atmospheric sabotages. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif especially when the campaign led the player to be in a 'defensive position'
It simply sucks, and I can't find a way to stop it. [ April 09, 2003, 17:18: Message edited by: Larsius ] |
Re: Climate Control Facility
The intel projects and radiation bombs do indeed to a lot more damage than the CCF fixes in a short time frame. This is realistic though, cause it is much easier to destroy an atmospheric system than it is to create a perfectly-balanced atmospheric system.
