Newbie Galactic Combat: Proportions

Basicly this game is for Newbies, like myself who want to try out the Proportions mod in a PBW enviroment. The quadrant is set to med, so with 16 players the action should be fast and quick.

Heres the proposed rules:

1. Alliances are welcome but with a cap of 3 empires. This is to make sure the game isn't simply taken over by a 6 empire alliance.

2. There must always be one way into your Empire, no matter how hevilly defended. You cannot close every warp point into your empire, this is to make sure you don't close every warp point to keep the other person from winning even though you have no chance yourself.

3. One Empire Per Person!! This is a big one in my book. The Last NGC had a problem with this, and I will not tollerate this in a game I am administrating. If you are found to be controlling 2 or more empires you will be kicked, not only from this game but from every other game I am hosting in the future, not to mention I will work to make sure you are kicked from any other game I am part of. I know this will not be a problem for most people, but their are a few cheaters out there.

4. No surrendering. You must wipe your enemy out.

I'm also going to ask for a backup host, this is so if somthing happens and I'm unable to host the game in the future, I can turn hosting over to anouther person.

Thats all for now, we will work on other issues as they arrise, but the main goal is just to have fun. I look forward to seeing all of you.

Its labled as NGC: Proportions on the PBW site

I have no problem with kicking people from this game, or not accepting them into new games/joining games they are in, but kicking them from unrelated games or soliciting others to do so seems a little out of your jurisdiction. Boot them from this game and report them to PBW admins--they are more than happy to investigate and take action if necessary, and more to the point, they have the unquestioned right to take action. Just some advice to keep you out of any possible trouble.

Cheating is not a once-in-one-game issue, cheating is a character habit.
I think CaptRR is correct, it is necessary to take action against a cheater everywhere, not just in the game where he was caught. Of course its the decision of the individual host. But I wouldn't want to continue a game with a known cheater, even if he has not been caught in that specific game I am playing - yet. Waste of time and no fun.
I really wonder what these cheaters think - is it sooooo cooooool to win by cheating, even if its as easy as stealing candy from a baby?

What about ganging angainst the cheater? The game objective will be temprarily changed to: "Evil parasite has taken control over two empires. It's imerative to destroy this threat before it spreads further?" All players make alliances. With this approach you take the wind from cheater's sails and the game still remains fun. After som time the cheater will find himself in position where he always loses even if he controlls 2 empires...

I believe anyone found with 2 or more accounts on the pbw site will have both accounts closed down straight away.

Of course they could just open up a bunch of new accounts, but after that kind of humiliation I can't imagine them wanting to come back.

Re: Newbie Galactic Combat: Proportions

Your probably right, its just the Last game I was in was ruined by this. There's nothing worse than working on a game for several months only to have it ruined by a cheater. I know that 99% of players don't cheat, but that 1% seem to make it seem much worse than their numbers would indicate.

Perhaps it is a little out of my Juristiction by soliciting them to be kicked out of other games, but to be honest I don't want to play with cheaters, its no fun, and thats why I play the game to have fun http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

More over the other hosts of other games have the right to say "he hasn't cheated in my game, I don't want to take any action", and I would understand completely, but maybe by informing anuther host in a game I am involved in that host might be able to spot if the cheaters is also cheating in his game, and prevent the entire game from being ruined.

Re: Newbie Galactic Combat: Proportions

It's hard to prove such a thing as multiple accounts.
Ip numbers can be identical due to modem dial-up connections.

Hovewer: on the PBW I'd avoid playing with the following players:

Ghouls
Blacky
Dark ATM
Winter
Mao Dzedun
Joker
Alex Reaper
Stalin

Why? Check this:

Nothing can be proved but I know I won't play with them again.
