To patch or not....

I just received my copy of SEIV Gold and so far I love it! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif But I have noticed that the Version number of the game is 1.60 and I saw a patch 1.84 or something. Do I need to download this, or are the fixes already in my Version?
