A new beginning

After Millenia beyond counting of drifting through the depths of space the Alteri had finally come close enough to a system to expand. In a massive exodus the population left their small poor homeworld as it passed through several locla systems and moved to three new much richer worlds.

The Alteri rapidly advanced more in those few hundred years than they had in all the millenia past put together. The wealth of these new worlds was staggering. The room for growth beyond belief. Shortly they would be ready.

They had detected strange gravitational readings at several points in their new home systems and the unified memories and thoughts of the scattered Alteri called out for their brethren across the void of space.

The time had come. Utilizing remote probes to redirect and harness local nearby asteroids the Alteri had the makings of their new hulls.

The Universe called to them with all the mysteries it possessed and the riches it had to harvest. The Alteri would answer as individuals and as one.

The Swedish nation hadn't been at war since 1814, now it was 2400.2 and they where in an entirely new situation.

Since casting off the opressive rule of the Terran authorities the Swedes had been busy building new spaceships.
This month the first Swedish built spaceships where launched.
Captain Lars Andersson of the "HMR Colony Scout Adam" was accelerating towards the nearest warp point.
His mission was to explore the universe and find a new world for the Swedes to settle.
The goal was clear, to expand and establish strong borders so that they would always remain a free nation, never again would they be ruled by someone elses goverment.
If this meant breaking a 600 year long peace, so be it.
They hoped they would find a peaceful universe, but prepared for the worst.

BLast it. Many has already met some neighbours, I haven't left my homesystem yet, haven't colonized a single planet!
Gotta get a move on!

I know that feeling. I barely have a scout out and running around and others are already meeting people! Darn it!

The Unification. -2400.3

Finally the first of the space craft were completed. Each of the worlds that had been settled produced their own and the Alteri were joined once again, not just in mind but in truth as well. The strange gravitational anomalies had been investigated. They were the key to the future.
Through them ships could pass vast distances in an instant. The Alteri had been ready to consruct vast ships that could sustain many many Alteri and to send these out into the vastness of space each to settle upon a new distant star and spread the seed of the Alteri. These anomalies however removed all need for that.
Now the Alteri would spread far more rapidly. Before it had been estimated that expansion would take hundreds of years to reach even the nearest stars but it was now possible that they could reach the nearest in just a few months. Already the first ships were being built to go and colonize the unknown distant worlds that surely lay beyond what the weaker worker thought levels were now calling "Star Tunnels". These thought levels were all abuzz about the potential for new offspring and the many many resources that might be found on new worlds.

The higher thought levels had other concerns. Hidden from the lower levels was the fact that two ships had already moved through these Star Tunnels and beyond them found nothing but clouds of gas that might eventually form new stars and planets and a region of space with no star at all but many many asteroids. Taken with the data on their new home systems, which had little enough in common with each other, the Alteri elders now felt that the universe held many more mysteries than had first been thought. They didn't wish to worry the young workers but there might be more out in the universe to worry about than many had first believed.
Yet the elders felt certain that they would still move forward despite the deadly atmosphere that filled so many of the planets they had seen and the deadly asteroids and other unknowns that hurtled through space.
The elders decided to continue with their plans to move forward. Nothing must ever be allowed to stop the Alteri.
As the eldest Zyx removed himself from the immersion of the elders thoughts for a moment he felt a brief stab in the deepest reaches of his mind. The stab was strange and foreign but Lasted only the briefest of moments before it was gone. It was quickly forgotten.

I was going to post but i thought i'd let mlmbd post first, after all he is your most dedicated fan!!! Hi RD.
I'll continue to post in the NGC2 therad.
But I don't have much of a story plot left.
I'm mostly reacting to Roberts story there.
I'm beginning to start up a new plot there to keep it going but it's not a good plot, I'm more interested in reading about the what the Dravens are planning!!

Where this NGC3 story will lead I hav eno idea, hopefully this will be a gamedriven story and then I don't have to strain my imagination! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Heh. I only read the NGC2 story thread for the first time a little while ago. I can see some commonalities between my Alteri and the Weyrlings (after the One woke up again). But there are some very key differences.

My Posts so far are mostly introductory. The real story won't start until I meet some people.

Then it will all depend on how the game goes.
