Tactical Combat Bug: Ship Cannot Fire [Ack, I figured it out!]
Hello All,
I apologize if this has been covered (I searched but didn't find anything...). I am playing a Gold 1.84 single player game, and very occassionally when I am doing tactical combat, a ship will seem to lose the ability to attack anymore. For example, I was attacking a planet with an LC equiped with Phased V weapons. It was going fine, each turn I was hitting with all 5 of my guns. Then, on about turn 10, I clicked on the planet, one gun fired, and the rest wouldn't shoot. There was still a planet there (and Weapon Platforms). Even when I ended the turn, the weapon fired recharged but I couldn't seem to attack anymore. Has anyone seen this? It has happened at least twice in this game (about turn 4.5, I think). Thanks! Ha-ha. Been there, done that.
I once had a fleet attack a world three times (in strategic), each time astounded when I looked at the battle reports and saw how little the planet had been damaged. Took a look at the fleet and the supplies had bottomed out of my heavy hitters. I made a race for quantum reactors after that. [ April 21, 2003, 06:57: Message edited by: QuarianRex ] |

Was there a bug or something previously that kept the supplies from being used in combat? It seems like combat eats up supplies a lot now.
I took a year off from SE4, and now I'm playing again. I went from 1.49 to 1.84, I I thought maybe I missed it.... Thanks! Aristoi |

Under older patches, ships that ran out of supply could continue firing.
That has been fixed. Warning! Weapons with a supply use of ZERO will still fire! This can be important in mods. |

Yeah, especially if you're using Heavy Bombardment Missiles in P&N. It's a whopping 400 supplies for a single HBM V! Of course, since the AI's using them, I can sometimes run their ships out of supplies using cheesy moves in tactical combat. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
