Seems like cheating, or a bug...
I dunno if this is only in the pre-gold Version (which is what I have, I bought it back in 2001) but I've noticed that I can put multiple emergency propulsion components in a ship. Combining this with repair bays can really change the nature of ship movement.
You can put an emergency resupply pod, a repair bay, and a bunch of the propulsion units all together on a ship and keep reusing them every turn. In effect, you can have unlimited supplies without having to research the quantum reactor. Also, at propulsion tech 10 and repair tech 2, I've got a ship (for exploring and moving cargo around in a hurry) that can move 30 squares per turn, every single turn, whereas the standard ships in my fleet can move 10. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I'm sure I could put a couple repair bays and throw on another 25 movement points per bay... Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. |
Re: Seems like cheating, or a bug...
That is an old bug that was fixed a while ago. Now you can only have one pod per ship and it requires a space yard to repair the pod, movement or resupply (normal repair components no longer do the trick).

Also, in simultaneous movement games, you can only go a max speed of 30 in one turn, as ships can not move more than 1 sector per day (and there are 30 days in a month).
You should get Gold. It is well worth the cost. |
