Happinness (Explotion possible?)

If you are a peaceful race, making a partnership treaty gives you -100 in happiness, good.
Can I then cancel that treaty and the next turn make another one and get -100 again (if we are both human players)?
And continue to do this until both our races are brimming with happiness?
Or do we loose the gained happiness when the treaty is cancelled?

doesn't look like it, but of course you don't get much trade benefit, and since the proposals take a turn to send, there's a gap turn - would mess up the ability to cooperate militarily. Also, planets lose happiness very rapidly (so you'd have to keep doing this to keep up) when they are at high levels, unless you have Urban Pac centers, which kinda makes the treaty jockeying redundant anyway.

I believe you don't have to break the treaty! Just propose "military alliance" and "partnership" alternating. As far as I know the happiness would accept these changes as "new" treaties.
However in a game with humans this would certainly be regarded as severe cheating and against AI players it is just one more unfair trick IMO.

Treaties only give you a one time happiness bonus. You do not get -100 anger per turn when you have a Partnership; you just get that bonus when the treaty is signed.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's exactely what we are talking about.
As far as I know a treaty is signed and gives you the change in happiness even if you had a different treaty before. And that seems to be true even if the old treaty was a higher one.

Well some of the Posts in this thread seem to be implying the contrary. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

do you keep your trade percentage when flipping between positive treaties (eg military and partnership)? Does it reset every flip, or every downgrade, or not at all?

You only lose the trade percentages if you change to a treaty state that allows no trade (war, none, NI, NA).
