Can someone explain how the forum rating system works? Or more importantly why someone thinks I am such a moron that I should get one star?
Thanks, G |
Re: Ratings
Ignore it or disable it. It is not worth the bandwidth it takes up. I don't disable mine because that would mean I acknowledge its existance.

Re: Ratings
I've often wondered, too. I mean, not to the point of losing sleep... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif , but curiouis.
So, taking my guess, the rating is a combination of: (1) Posts you have made that helped people with a question; (2) Whether you have or have not flamed someone; (3) Wit and humor; and (4) Good player (meaning reliable as an ally, getting turns in on time, ability, etc.) Of course, that's just my opinon...I'll probably get my rating dropped now... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif . Re: Ratings
good answer so you prolly wont http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
yes, it is most usually that way. You only receive good rating usually, unless you do something BAD. then you get a low one. |

Re: Ratings
On a serious note (yes, I AM capable of it).
Your reputation follows you. (1) People naturally like someone who is witty, funny, a good player, and helpful. (2) People don't like the three A's: Arrogance, *******s, and Anger. If you ever cross the "border" on either 1 or 2 above, someone will take the time to post their feelings in the form of a rating. Finally, no matter how you act, there is always the chance someone with an attitude on a particular day will take their anger out on you for no particular reason at all. |
Re: Ratings
Sgt., I see your rating has gone up to two stars. If you are really worried about it, look at your previous Posts and see if anything in them could have irritated someone. Disagreeing with Fyron doesn't count, I did that and he didn't rate me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
And there's always the chance someone wanted to rate the post above or below yours and clicked on yours by mistake. |

Re: Ratings
It seems there is some childish moron on the Boards lately who glories in the ability to force a newby's rating as low as possible. I'm sure he would give them a zero were it possible. SgtBigG, you are not his only victim.
Personally I do not give anyone a rating unless I can give them a 5. P.S. Love your sig.! [ May 04, 2003, 18:20: Message edited by: Grandpa Kim ] |

Lots of people who love the game. And love to win, I suppose. I see lots of people tease with others and I see it as teasing...in a friendly way. And that's what makes this community great. That one can kid around. Of course, there is the chance that someone will take it wrong... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif . [ May 04, 2003, 18:24: Message edited by: Slynky ] |
