mod pack problem

Hello everyone I am new to this forum and just started playing Space empires IV. I have the gold edition and have tried to use the Mobpack for the gold Version. However, I have unziped it followed the directions and continue to get the same error message. It reads:

Unknown value "ships/sat" for weapon target in record "anti-ship warhead I."

Unknown value "ships/sat" for weapon target in record "anti-ship warhead II."

Unknown value "ships/sat" for weapon target in record "anti-ship warhead III."

I then get only options to exit or credits. I have no idea how to fix this problem. Thanks in advance for any info or help.

This should be posted in the main SE4 forum, which is Here

The answer would probably be that you are trying to install an SE4 Classic mod into your SE4 Gold.

Look for a Gold Version on the forum above.

Sorry about that, I was not sure if I posted in the right place and I did repost it. As for you idea about the problem that does not seem to be the case. I downloaded the mobpack for the gold edition or at least that is what it said on the download page. I also did get it from the forum you linked. Any other help is welcome.

Re: mod pack problem

This happens pretty frequently when a classic mod is ported to gold. The allowable target types are different. What usually happens is that there is a space hidden before or after the text in the target type, or the \ is entered as a /.

Open up the "components" file in the data directory, and scroll down until you find the entries for anti-ship warheads. Make sure there aren't any blank spaces after the entry "ships\sat" (and make sure the slant is \ and not /).

That should fix the problem. If not, check back in the SE4 forum, and tell 'em grumbler sent ya!
