OT Recommended Video/graphics Cards?

I am thinking of upgrading my system or buying another, The question I have is, I was looking at the new ATI Radeon 128MB DDR graphics card or stick with GeoForce 64 or 128mb 4 card. I've heard some members have had problems with SE4 or other games with the ATI Radeon cards. would like you opinions or suggestions..

tks Mac

I use the Nvidia cards. I also play Online games (EQ and DAoC) and have had way too many driver issues with ATI cards. Which is a shame because they seem to get good reviews and have nice features (for their value), just crappy drivers (of the cards I have used, recently as of 4 months ago). But the kind of games I play will show minor issues that a normal gamer might not see.

That is my 2 cents, I have an MSI GForce 4 4400ti 128MB and really like it. G/L

I use an ATI Radeon with 64MB of DDR (built right before they came out with the 8500 series). I've had no problems running SEIV (or anything) with it.

I guess you can take this for whatever "ray of hope" it may be http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I'd go with the nVidia if I were you. ATI cards are always limited by poor driver performance for the first year or so of their lives.

Is there a "type" of card that will be better suited to suport the type of graphics SE V will be using?

Edit:
Just saw this in my inbox:

I thank all of you for your input, From what I have read, I am still a little hesitant on the ATI Radeon card. I don't want to spend all that money and end up with more headaches trying to play games they I already have http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I appreciate your help

you know, there's a certain air of unreality when your video card is as fast as your old processer.

It's when you have 2x as much RAM as CPU clock cycles that is disturbing... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I have:

Desktop 300Mhz vs 320Mb RAM
Laptop 300Mhz vs 320Mb RAM

That's not quite 2:1, but more RAM than Mhz at least http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif .
