Any PBW games accelerated during weekend?

I've never played a PBW game. So, I'm curious. Do most games go just a single turn per day? It seems like that would take so, so long.

Are there any games out there where the players will submit turns every hour during the weekend?

Are there any die-hard PBW'ers who try to require one per hour throughout the entire weekend? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Thanks for the help. My apologies in advance if these questions have been asked before.

SJ made some games where the turns were always processed once each hour. The idea was to play along with the AI, as you couldn't play every turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Most games (esp. large ones) play one turn every couple of days, actually. If you want fast games, don't join any with more than 6-8 players in them. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

My experience is there is not a lot of difference between games with 6-8 players and those with many more players. There is a pretty significant dropoff in speed of play once you pass the four player mark. Of course it could be just that with four players or less you tend to to be working with a group of players you are familier with and have common play habits. While larger games tend to have at least a couple players from outside your core group.
