OT: Caveat about Outlook

Don't ever have outlook log anything. It was set to log stuff like commands issued and such for me, and it's log file grew to an enormous 2.8 GB! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif Of course, this was over a year or so, but still. No wonder why my comp was acting weird! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif The window's partition had no space left for virtual memory and such. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

You can turn the "troubleshooting" logging stuff in Tools > Options > Maintenance.

I always delete all Versions of Outlook from every computer I can use, whenever possible. If I need to use MS Mail, I use Outlook Web Access, a browser interface which leaves everything on the server.

Microsoft products normally work much better than people give them credit for.

P-D, the problem is that I don't recall ever turning it on in the first place. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

you should set your swap file to a permanent size, it works faster that way. otherwize, windows resizes it all the time. or so i've heard, and it seems to work better permanent. also, on the two sites i found, the referance was for 2.5 of your memory size.

Re: OT: Caveat about Outlook

Actually, it is best to have the swap file make up the difference between your amount of RAM and a certain size, which I do not recall off the top of my head. It is not just 2x the RAM you have or anything like that.

And, setting a permanent swap file size only gives noticeable performance increases with low amounts of physical RAM on lower end systems. It really does not do much for most PCs.
