Atmospheric conditioners

If you add one of these to a conquered planet does it convert to the ideal atmosphere for your race or the race living on the planet?
Thanks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

Atmosphere modification plants change the atmosphere to whatever the MAJORITY population breathes.

So as long as everyone on the planet breathes the same thing, it will be undomed after the atmosphere facility is done its work.

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

If I have alien hydrogen breathers on a hydrogen planet, build up to max-1 facility, then builds a atm conv facility and after that is finished change pop to my native oxygen breathers. Will it then become an oxygen planet or will it choose the majority breathers when the facility was constructed and thereby not change the atmosphere?

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

That's a very good question...
I suspect it will check the population on the turn it completes, but the only way to know is empirical testing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

You could mod a 3-turn converter to try it with.

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

I think Fyron answered this a while back and i *think* the answer was that it will convert to the athmosphere of the majority of the population on the planet at the exact time of completing the conVersion. But i'm not sure

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

On any turn that an AC has been in existence for more turns than it's Ability 1 value, the atmosphere gets converted to that breathed by the largest population group. 100 hydrogen, 80 oxygen, 80 carbon dioxide results in a conVersion to Hydrogen. If the population is even (100 hydrogen and 100 oxygen), the atmosphere is not converted. AC will convert the atmosphere over and over again each turn if you fiddle with the pop levels. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif Will it not just change it to the one with the most when it was built, even if you change pop?

Fyron June 17th, 2003 11:19 PM

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

It changes the atm to that breathed by whatever the majority of the pop is when it does the conVersion, not when it was built. Less data has to be saved that way. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif And, it will do a conVersion every single turn after X turns passed if it is able to. It is not every X turns.

Re: Atmospheric conditioners

I didn't know it would "update" the atmosphere to reflect the curretn population. That's... odd. But useful, I guess.

Here's a question though: When it's working out the population levels, does it look for the largest atmosphere grouping or the largest racial grouping?

If I have a planet with:
12 million humans (oxy)
9 million druk (mehtane)
8 million Xi (methane)
will it think

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">12&gt;9 AND 10&gt;8 </pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">and therefore change the atmos to oxy, or will it see that </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">12&lt;(9+8)</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">and change it to methane?
