Players taking over for other players temporarily

I am going to be going on vacation and it has been mentioned that having other "trusted" players take over for you while absent is about the best thing one can do.

I am curious though, if this player is not in the game that you are in, it is definatly obvious that I need to withdraw from the game and the replacement needs to join the game. Am I correct in my assumption? Is there anohter way around this? Thanks.

if you REALLY trust them, change the e-mail address ingame, and give them your password for that game, when you get back have him/her change it back.

The best way is to do the following

1. change pbw password

2. change game password

mail this to the player.

then when you get back change them back.

Perhaps we should set up a thread where we have a pool of people who will take over empires for a short time.

A nice stand by list.

I would help out with the looking and coordinating...

Unless your replacment is one of the people that has trouble consistantly receiving PBW emails, there is another way. You still need to give them the empire password, but not your PBW password. Set up your options to send turns with the email notice, then set up your options with their email address as an alternate email for you. They can then play the turn and return the .plr file via email to PBW.

If the replacement can afford to take a regular look at the game you even don't need to change the email settings, he can just download the turn from the PBW site directly.
Setting up a thread for short-time standbys seems to be a good idea to me.
