Even though I have been with the community for a little over a year, and have read many Posts. Since I have NEVER (wimpers) played PBW, I was wondering if someone could be kind enough to go through a step by step basis on how it works, and how I can get involved in it. ;p (Begs on the street corner wearing a sign and klingon costume) My sign says will play SE4 PBW for food... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Hope this helps:

- Go to the PBW page: http://seiv.pbw.cc/graphic/index.jsp
- Register an account
- Read the FAQ’s (come back if there are any more specific questions) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
- Check the “Currently open games” section.
- Find a game you want to enter, either a new game or join an ongoing game as an replacement player, press “apply to join game”
- Wait until the game host approves you (you will get an e-mail). This can take a while, be patient
- If new game: Upload your emp file, wait for the game to start. You will get the first turn by mail.
- If replacement player: Usually (but not always) you will get the current turn mailed to you (I recommend you download it manually just to be sure).
- Unzip the turn to your savegame directory.
- Play the turn.
- Upload (or email) the turn to the PBW site.
- Wait for the next turn to arrive.
- Repeat until victory, defeat or your wife starts threatening with divorce if you don’t spend more time with her http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Be sure to check out the “Turn duration” before you join a game. If you can’t regulary meet the schedule, find another game.

My personal recommendation is to join a game or two as a replacement player to get straight into the action. It can take a long time (weeks/months) before a new large game gets interesting.

Another way to fast and furious action is to join the KOTH (King of the hill league). If you get the right opponent, these small games can be done in a few days. If interested, post in the KOTH thread and Asmala will assign you to a game.

Once you get access, you may want to check this out, a start-up game for newbies...

Rojero, you should check out the "King of the Hill" league. It's a good way to get a fast initiation into PBW. You won't be waiting around for a game to start probably.

There's a thread aronund here about it. Or you can check out the league page. I have a link to it in my sig.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">1) Start up SEIV, and set up a new game with parameters as described in the PBW game's description.

2) Create your race as you would for playing a SP game.

3) Save off the race as an empire file instead of starting the game (I usually save it as [racename]_PBW.EMP just so I know which one to send).

4) Log on to PBW and access the game you have joined.

5) In the control bank at the top of the screen, one of the buttons will be "upload empire". Click that button.

6) Path to your empire file, highlight it, click OK.

7) Click "Send Empire" under the entry box.
