Trimming My Sails

Going over some of my Posts the Last few days, I begin to think that maybe I am coming across too harshly.

IOW, I think I'm being a jerk.

I've gone back over some of them and toned them down (especially the one in the Avatar thread - sorry Dave http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif ).

So please - if you all think I'm being to strident, please let me know - and please let no one take anything personally, as I have no animosity towards anyone here.

I haven't seen how you've been a 'jerk' at all. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif
If anyone took offense at anything you said you were always quick to assure them that no offense was meant and you apologized for making it seem that way.

But overall I just don't sense jerkiness in your Posts. So don't get on yourself about it just yet. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I for one didn't see anything wrong with your Posts, but there's no harm in toning them down if you feel that it's necessary. We are a diverse community here and our standards for politeness can be very different, so it's always best to err on the side of caution.

If I never stopped on anyone's toes, I'd never post anything at all.
UM, I hope you didn't mind me posting this.

Honest discussions and giving on one's opinion is part of the forum. Not everyone will agree with everyones ideas or opinions, but as long as there is no Flaming or unwarranted name calling etc.. I see no problems. There have been a number of threads where opinions differed and ideas were far apart but thats what discussion is for. As far as I can remember there was only 1 person who failed to abide by the rules of this forum and he was warned numerous times before the wrath was forthcoming and he was banished... If you or any one else including me, gets out of hand, the members will point blank tell you to cool it.. So far this has been a very very rare event on this forum. Sometimes in the heat of discussion or in trying to get his/her point across the heat rises but it soon cools and all is normal, its when the heat is left uncontrolled that problems arise.

just some ideas mac

Hang on - this board has rules? Where are they published? Just to check, I logged out and initiated a new registration (that I didn't finish). Here's a portion of a screen capture.

Just what are the rules?

Rules become necessary when someone upsets someone else. If there is a law against littering, for example, you can bet it's because someone has been doing it at some time.

This community is largely self-regulated. When someone crosses the line, other people step in and get them to cool off. So far, this has worked. If it ever becomes less than satisfactory... formal rules will be created.
