Robotoid Factories

At what point do they become cost effective?
Let's say I'm using Monoliths.Would it be better to build say 5 monoliths or 4 monoliths and a robotoid factory?
Thanks!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Robotoid Factories increase productivity by percentage. And percentages depend on the total amount of production; 4 monolith facilities and 1 Robotoid Factories aren't that productive. But a planet with 29 Monolith Facilities and 1 robotoid factory is very efficient.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes they are. In fact, that is the break point for Robotoid IIIs (where they start becoming productive).

Basically on a 100% Mineral Planet, for Example:

Resource Extraction Facility = Produces 900 Resource each turn.

Robotoid Factory I = 10% ~ Break even, if Built after the 10th Resource Extraction Facility
900x10=9000 @10% = 900

Robotoid Factory II = 20% ~ Break even, if Built after the 5th Resource Extraction Facility
900x5=4500 @20% = 900

Robotoid Factory III = 30% ~ Profit, if Built after the 4th Resource Extraction Facility
900x4=3600 @30% = 1080

OF course you've got to take into acount the time and cost on the Robotoid factory. Building say 4 mineral facilities and then a robotoid factory would not be that efficient on a world with 20 facility spaces. At least in the short run.

Thanks for your replies!
So I gather I need at least say 5 monoliths to make it worthwhile?(I am talking about robotoid IIIs by the way,if it makes a difference)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No. Consider having 4 monoliths, producing 900 of each resource. Adding a 5th monolith will increase production by 25% (as 2700 is 25% of 10800). Adding a Robotoid III increases production by 30% (or 3240, more than 2700). So, it is better to build a Robotoid. Sure, it takes 1 more turn to build it, but it is worth it, and it evens out in a small number of turns (less than 1 year IIRC).

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Sure. One crevate, for a border world that the enemy may be able to glass it may make sense to build a cluster of 5 resources plants plus robotfacil, as well as a cluster of 5 intel (or research plants) plus data complex.

this way loosing a planet or two doesn't completely screw you in one area.
